The WAITRI: Kids Triathlon Event (2020)

The WAITRI Kids Triathlon Event has held on Saturday 21st November, 2020. The WAITRI is the only multisport event that currently involves paintball in the whole world! Its an exciting, new event aimed to give kids a taste of triathlon and adventure racing. Apart from being completely unique and really good fun, the WAITRI takes the experience of gaming off the sofa and into the paddock .. and everyone gets active!

The event brings three disciplines together – mountain biking, trail running and paintball. Held at Borderlandz Paintball, through Fensham Reserve and along Upper Belvedere Road, there is a short course for kids aged 5-7 years old, and a more challenging course for kids aged 8-12 years old.

Prizes are given out separately to girls and boys – with the top three scores in each category, for the quickest time in either the run or the bike in each year group, and for hitting the targets. Photos can be found on our facebook page.

Tropic Thunder: Return to the Tropics (2017)

Return to the Tropics is a scenario event happening on the weekend of Sunday 2nd April, 2017. It will be held at Borderlandz Paintball, Carterton. The scenario will focused on Teamwork and Tactics. The theme is ‘The Vietnam War‘, there will be prizes and a BBQ lunch. Please attempt to dress as your chosen faction; US Marine or Vietcong / NVA.

We will be inviting all forms of paintball players to play; Mag-Fed, Tac-Caps, Pumps and Hoppers/Loaders (Restricted to 9bps and limited capacity). Players will be divided into 2 teams, comprised of Mag-Fed, Tac-Cap, Pumps and Hopper/Loader players to keep it fair.

Players will play a variety of games relating to the operations of that era including Search and Destroy and Demolition with pyrotechnics. Each player will have 50 -100 paintballs at one time, they can come off the field to reload, however this will cost a life ticket.

During the day, each team will gather intel and capture areas accumulating points that they can spend on their squad or home base to customize it. They will be able to choose to upgrade their Riflemen (All players start as Riflemen) into Medics, Support, Machine Gunners, Engineers. In addition to squad upgrades, this event we are allowing base upgrades, details coming soon.

 Previous Scenarios: Tropic Thunder (2016)

The scenario event ‘Tropic Thunder’ was on the weekend of Saturday 13^th February 2016. It was held at Borderlandz Paintball, Carterton. The scenario was focused on Teamwork and Tactics. The theme was ‘The Vietnam War‘, there were prizes for best dressed.

We invited all forms of paintball players to play; Mag-Fed, Tac-Caps, Pumps and Hoppers/Loaders (Restricted to 9bps and limited capacity). Players were divided into 2 even teams, comprised of Mag-Fed, Tac-Cap, Pumps and Hopper/Loader players to keep it fair. Players played a variety of games relating to the operations of that era including Search and Destroy and Demolition with pyrotechnics. Each player had 50 rounds only, they had to get ammo from Support Player, or come off the field to reload, costing a life ticket.

During the day, each team earned points that they could spend on their squad to customize it. They could choose to upgrade their Riflemen into Medics, Support, Heavy Gunners and Captains. At the end of the day, each team obviously had a different setup that often countered the enemy team. Photos can be found on our facebook page.
